November 16, 2019 ~ the last 2 segments of my beading tutorials for this month of November had come to an end this afternoon. As usual, I will have to look back and remember the memorable happenings I had been through with my students . Of course, I would like to again thank all my very supportive students for being there with me all the way. All 4 tutorials for November were well attended . Time spent creating the pieces was fun and enjoyable. With some bits of struggle with the pliers and wires here and there but nevertheless everyone was able to get through it.
The students were able to create 2 sets of wirewrapped earrings and 2 pieces of bead woven pearls & crystals bracelets . For being able to finish all 4 projects, they were entitled to bring home their well deserved certificates with all smiles too.
Remarkable job ladies !
Well done ...
A neat space for our session today ... |

Last but not the least, a big big thank you to one of my students - Ruth, for being so nice . She thoughtfully handed me a nice souvenir after our beading session today. She said that her gift is an auspicious chinese Pixiu for good fortune. Oh thank you so much !!!!
I love it 😍😍😍🤗
Description
Description
PIXIU, is a Chinese mythical hybrid creature, commonly referred to in the West by the Greek word "chimera", and considered a powerful protector of practitioners of Feng Shui. It resembles a strong, winged lion. Pixiu is an earth and sea variation, particularly an influential and auspicious creature for wealth.
Things to note on how to place the Pixiu at home :
Practitioners of Feng Shui should ensure that they display the Pixiu (Pi Yao) in the West to appease Tai Sui. The Pixiu (Pi Yao) should also be displayed in homes for those enduring a period of bad luck soon after moving into a new home or soon after undertaking renovations. In 2006, Tai Sui moved to the Northwest. His exact position in 2006 is West-Northwest.
- Pixiu (aka "Pi Yao" in some modern cultural translations) - must be placed facing out of the house.
- Displaying Pixiu' (Pi Yao) at the affected area of the house or office can avoid misfortune and disasters.
- For displaying towards openings or entrance, a pair of Pixiu' (Pi Yao) is needed.
- Tiān lù (male Pixiu with one antler) and Bìxié (female Pixiu with two antlers) - are utilized for attracting and keeping wealth; you may place them in the desired wealth area, such as an attractive wealth area or an accumulative wealth area.
- Do not place Pixiu facing directly on any person like a confronting position.
- Ideally, Pixiu should not be place on the floor and they should never be placed above eye level.
- One cannot touch the mouth of Pixiu because the touching of their mouths would ruin the wealth.

November 9, 2019 ~ Today I was in Koi Ming teachin some singaporean lady students on how to make a wire wrapped pair of crystal earrings and a beadwoven crystal bracelet. The lessons were both for beginners so I just made sure the patterns were easy to follow & understand . Basic beading is the starting point when a person is eager to learn the craft of jewellery making. A student gets exposed to the necessary tools and materials. They learn the do's and don'ts during the actual beading process . Best of all, it's a way of honing one's inner talent to come out of their shell.
It's the discovery and the challenging stage for beginners.

The making of The beadwoven crystal bracelet . |
Through basic learning, students realize how much patience is needed during this craft. At this point of time, some of them will decide to pursue their passion no matter what while others will just take it for granted after 1 or 2 sessions. It's the fact of life that everyone has their own tastes and preferrences just like me and I respect each and everyone of them. I just hope that I could teach more people about this craft and spread the word that art is life .
A big thank you to all my students who came in for the 2 sessions today. Keep it up and hope to see you again on the next upcoming round.
