Celebrations All Around !

August 11, 2015 ~ Kids' school summer holidays are finally over.  Teenage son is now back to his 1st  day of school this morning after a hard time getting out of bed at 6 am . Can't blame him though, who would ever wanna wake up at 6am to take a shower, put on some uniform, carry a bag then catch the school bus ? For every teenager, it's a torture , oh well sort of , It's part of growing up my dear son ! You'll get used to it again soon , no worries .

While on the other hand, my pretty daughter is still fast asleep in the next room like a princess in a pod. She still got an extended holidays while awaiting for her new school term probably in Barcelona this coming October. Lucky girl how I wish to go to Barcelona too!

Anyways, too many holidays had come and go but despite of those distractions, I was still able to sneak a little bit of quality me time into my lonely beadroom to create these set of beaded earrings with clip on leverbacks last week. I was happy to have given it to Saisuree yesterday afternoon when we met for a chat over some Vietnamese food / coffee in the city.

The 2 pairs of earrings , one with blue acrylic  oval cabochon representing Blue Sapphire the birthstone for September and the other with Peridot Green Acrylic cabochon to represent Peridot the birthstone for August. Glad to see the smile on her face upon seeing the earrings!

I promised her I will make these  earrings for her in return for the favor of doing a photoshoot of my daughter on the day of her Graduation ball last June.

My daughter looked really so stunning &  beautiful in her portarait / whole body shots . They are pictures worth celebrating for ...

Another good reason to celebrate is knowing the fact that I am gifted with great friends around me. They stood by my side when I am sad supporting me, keeping me company to share experiences and they never stop from listening to my stories when I am happy or sad.

I also just came back from a holiday like my family and friends. A quick trip to Bangkok  last week accompanied by another dear friend Zeenat. She found the time to get some much needed vacation from her work that she eagerly joined me on my girlie trip. 2 nights and 3 days of laughter and fun ... between the 2 of us , One forever looking for a time to smoke ( Zee is a smoker ) and me forever looking for a place to visit and eat  . LOL! We had conquered 3 skybars :

Vertigo ~ Perched 61 floors above the city on the roof of the sultry Banyan Tree, Vertigo and its Moon Bar are tops for great views.

Red Sky is one of the latest rooftop bars in Bangkok and while is doesn't offer a striking riverside view, it has a pretty impressive 360 panorama view from the 55th floor of one of the most convenient location in town.

Baiyoke Sky Bar at The Baiyoke Sky Hotel Bangkok, Thailand's highest tower, is rising 88-storeys above the City's skyline
Can you imagine the 2 ladies like us had wondered all by ourselves in these skybars in 2 nights not forgetting we'd been to 2 underground disco clubs too ?  Geeezzz ... we got a bit of night sightseeing actions out there LOL!:

Spasso ~  Restaurant and Bar in Bangkok serves Italian cuisine by day, unique cocktails and dance music by night. Located at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok hotel.

Mixx Discotheque in Bangkok is a nightclub in Siam and is a favourite place for an after-hours party. The club has two rooms: the main room is dedicated to hip hop and party pop, while the cave-like backroom is the place for more beat-heavy house music

( Spasso / Mixx ) ... errrrrrmmm Mixx, the 1st disco club we were supposed to get into on the 1st night out was still closed when we got there. We were an hour too early for its opening that the security was scratching his head upon seeing the 2 of us by the door . We just laughed and walked around navigating the area in our killer heels . LMAO ... I swear I'll never again in strutt in those heels on the streets of Bangkok ... it was divine torture ha ha !

2nd day of stay in Bangkok took us to the floating market  but I would say it's not a good trip as we had expected due to the fact that we consumed so much of our time in the service bus dropping off and picking up other tourists. It's an absolute waste of time. So I don't recommend going there especially if you have kids with you . But for the sake of having a souvenir photo of once in a lifetime ... ok why not !

Food was good and cheap in some places and of course a bit hefty in 4-5 stars restaurants found mainly in well known hotels like Hyatt, Intercontinental, Banyan Tree but we managed to save ourselves from those fancy food places by exploring the local stuffs ... meaning, street stuffs !
He he ...Why not ?

Local Coffee ...
Street food vendor busy frying some breaded chicken ...
I was curious what she was cooking in that pot ...
One of the good medium priced restaurant in our hotel street ... Sukhumvit 8 is one good decent place with nice rows of restaurants catering to Europeans , Caucasians ... and asians just  like me and Zeenat !

But now the holidays were over for me, my kids, and my friends. Back to normal daily routines again.
My friends who had travelled in different parts of the world had started coming back home to Singapore. A lady friend came back after her US to Switzerland trip with her family . Most of them came back to Singapore early morning of the national Day Parade. The lady friend I had met for coffee yesterday whom I had given the 2 pairs of beaded earrings handed me a box of yummy Swiss Chocolates and a very chic Kate Spade crossbody black leather bag from the US as a souvenir . Wooooowwww... I am so spoiled ! Lovely bag from a very thoughtful friend!

Thanks so much Saisuree ... thank you ... thank you... thank you ...muaaahhhhh!!!

Talking back again about celebrations... it's indeed never ending isn't it ?  1 great event that just passed here in Singapore a few days ago was the the big celebration nationwide of SG50. ( Singapore Golden Jubilee ) .

What is SG50?

Well, it represents the little red dot that we've come to know as home. The logo celebrates the Singaporean spirit - signifying that our dreams are not limited by the physical size of our island nation.

Singapore is one very colorful place. With all the events that had happened the National Day Parade was highlighted with an airshow and bursts of colorful fireworks , I was just able to personally see one of its highlights last night. My daughter was pushing me to come and take her to the venue yesterday morning telling me me that it's a must to see after missing the sights of the fireworks the previous night. Hmmmm... I guess my daughter had her convincing powers working that I told myself about time we see something for real so, off we went to the Gardens By The Bay light show at 9:15 pm.

Garden Rhapsody (SG50 Special)

6 - 10 Aug

7:45 PM, 8:30 PM, 9:15 PM and 10:00PM

Celebrate the Jubilee weekend with a special edition of the Garden Rhapsody to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday. Featuring lasers for the very first time, this edition of Garden Rhapsody presents nostalgic favourites from yesteryear sung by prominent local vocalists.

The magnificent array of constantly alternating colors got some kind of magical effects that we were all so quiet looking up in awe to the gigantic wired structures surrounding everyone of us on the ground. So fascinating to see , so unique... it was a one of a kind experience to be there personally watching the full light show. Nothing like it at all to asian nor european countries I had been in my life ! So special to see ...

I'm sure, there'll be more to come in the near future since Singapore never fails to delight us with their never ending sparkling lights .

Happy 50 Years of Power to You Singapore !
