January 2020 ~ Happy New Year !

~ January 1st, 2020 ~

Happy New Year To All !

First of all, I would like to greet you all with a smile on this 1st day of the year 2020 before I start to make you cry later on ( keep reading and you will know why )
I need to start the day happy no matter what , forget the blues and heartaches which actually greeted me today the moment I woke up and opened my eyes. Nah...Life goes on for me anyways.... bad things will pass ... better ones will come later ... hopefully.
Just like there were so many bad events happening all over the world these days and people just keep moving on  . There were so many reasons why our tears were constantly flowing on our face , one after the other - Hurricane Dorian, California Fires, Bush fires In Australia,  flash floods in Indonesia, escalating war in Iraq and Shooting down of passenger planes , volcanic eruption in New Zealand, Earthquakes in Philippines , Violent Rallies in Hongkong and the list goes on and continues even until now while I write this down. I felt sad deeply but I have no reason to be down, I need to move on . I need to look at the brighter side of life and keep on moving forward. Even with all these disasters in my mind constantly reminding me that I must never loose hope as long as I live. My heart goes to all the people and animals affected during and after these horrific events. So heart breaking to see their sufferings as recorded and shown via social media. Just  the photos alone already painted a million words to everyone out there infront of their tv, laptops and phones.  Distressing . horrifying ... sickening... and scary! The world is falling apart ! And we must take action ...not just cry our hearts out.

Bushfires are a common and deadly threat in Australia's dry summers

Port Macquarie Koala Hospital launched a GoFundMe last October 2019 for wildlife drinking stations in burnt out areas.

Volcanic Eruption off New Zealand  where 13 people are feared dead.
( Dec. 8, 2019 )

Despite of the fact that Mother Nature had unleashed considerable fury in 2019 leaving the biggest natural disasters of the year we should all still be happy and thankful that we are here, alive and kicking to help and make a change for the better We are the lucky survivors of 2019 and ready to continue our journey to 2020 and beyond.

For the time being, what I do to lessen the distress and heartaches from what I see nowadays on social media is actually isolating myself  in a room surrounded by my paints, tools., brushes and canvasses.

Liquitex Basics  Acrylic Paints

Mont Marte Canvas / Ikea Frames

Yes, I had decided to paint again after converting 1 of our storage rooms into a painting room since last October 2019.

During that time last year, I had cleared and  cleaned this room thoroughly.  This room had been neglected over the last 6 yrs. And now ? not anymore.
We normally  just dump our broken pc, monitors, printers, bike pipes, old clothes and broken suitcases in there. Anything we just wanna dispose later , we all put in there. So, I had given away all the old clothes to charity and had thrown away the unusable stuffs. Now its a very neat , tidy and bright art space where I can do my acrylic paintings until the wee hours of the night. I am a typical night owl ... Lol !

Photo A . = My 1st Dutch Pour Painting

But of course, I still do my beading aside from my acrylic painting.  And I could now even combine these 2 forms of art into one. So cool isn't it ?

Charm Bracelet with my painted self made clay beads.

Clay beads dipped on the left over paints of my dutch pour painting pictured previously Refer to Photo A above..

My own air dried painted clay beads.
Aren't these beads so unique and beautiful ?
Although I am now beading in a much lesser pace than before.  I  now only do some beading if I have an upcoming tutorial for the next month, then I would create the jewellery samples for the class  to be displayed at KME Academy I do my practical beading workshops at least twice a mobth during Saturdays.

Please do check for my upcoming tutorials here

Thanks for reading and visiting my blog 🤗 🤗 🤗

See you again soon !

November 16, 2019 ~  the last 2 segments of my beading tutorials for this month of November had come to an end  this afternoon. As usual, I will have to look back and remember the memorable happenings I had been through with my students . Of course, I would like to again thank all my very supportive students for being there with me all the way.  All 4 tutorials for November were well attended . Time spent creating the pieces was fun and enjoyable.  With some bits of struggle with the pliers and wires here and there but nevertheless everyone was able to get through it.
The students were able to create 2 sets of wirewrapped earrings and 2 pieces of bead woven pearls & crystals bracelets . For being able to finish all 4 projects, they were entitled to bring home their well deserved certificates with all smiles too.

Remarkable job ladies !
 Well done ...

A neat space for our session today ...

My student finishing her pair of pearl wirewrapped earrings .

Last but not the least,  a big big thank you to one of my students - Ruth,  for being so nice . She thoughtfully handed me a nice souvenir after our beading session today. She said that her gift is an auspicious chinese Pixiu for good  fortune. Oh thank you so much !!!!

I love it 😍😍😍🤗

Description

Description

PIXIU, is a Chinese mythical hybrid creature, commonly referred to in the West by the Greek word "chimera", and considered a powerful protector of practitioners of Feng Shui. It resembles a strong, winged lion. Pixiu is an earth and sea variation, particularly an influential and auspicious creature for wealth.

Things to note on how to place the Pixiu at home :

Practitioners of Feng Shui should ensure that they display the Pixiu (Pi Yao) in the West to appease Tai Sui. The Pixiu (Pi Yao) should also be displayed in homes for those enduring a period of bad luck soon after moving into a new home or soon after undertaking renovations. In 2006, Tai Sui moved to the Northwest. His exact position in 2006 is West-Northwest.
  • Pixiu (aka "Pi Yao" in some modern cultural translations) - must be placed facing out of the house.
  • Displaying Pixiu' (Pi Yao) at the affected area of the house or office can avoid misfortune and disasters.
  • For displaying towards openings or entrance, a pair of Pixiu' (Pi Yao) is needed.
  • Tiān lù (male Pixiu with one antler) and Bìxié (female Pixiu with two antlers) - are utilized for attracting and keeping wealth; you may place them in the desired wealth area, such as an attractive wealth area or an accumulative wealth area.
  • Do not place Pixiu facing directly on any person like a confronting position.
  • Ideally, Pixiu should not be place on the floor and they should never be placed above eye level.
  • One cannot touch the mouth of Pixiu because the touching of their mouths would ruin the wealth.

November 2019 - Art is Life !

November 9, 2019 ~ Today I was in Koi Ming teachin some singaporean lady students on how to make a wire wrapped pair of crystal earrings and a beadwoven crystal bracelet. The lessons were both for beginners so I just made sure the patterns were easy to follow & understand . Basic beading is the starting point when a person is eager to learn the craft of jewellery making. A student gets exposed to the necessary tools and materials. They learn the do's and don'ts during the actual beading process . Best of all, it's a way of honing one's inner talent to come out of their shell.
It's the discovery and the challenging stage for beginners.

The making of crystal wirewrapped earings

The making of The beadwoven crystal bracelet .

Through basic learning, students realize how much patience is needed during this craft. At this point of time, some of them will decide to pursue their passion no matter what while others will just take it for granted after 1 or 2 sessions. It's the fact of life that everyone has their own tastes and preferrences just like me and I respect each and everyone of them. I just hope that I could teach more people about this craft and spread the word that art is life .

A big thank you  to all my students who came in for the 2 sessions today. Keep it up and hope to see you again on the next upcoming round.

😍😘😗😙😚

October 26, 2019 ~ Today was another teaching success for the wiring technique. My student was so eager to learn the art of wiring  in creating a unique set of  Swarovski pearl earrings.
I always advise my students to practice using the necessary pliers and materials when creating a certain piece when wiring is the main required technique . I consider using the right matetials for my basic students. Soft pliable non tarnish artistic beading wires in Gauge #24 to #26 are ideal for wiring using the bare hands and sometimes with the help of a round nose and flat nose pliers for the harder & delicate loops / coils. I recommend the good quality original Beadsmith pliers coz they are specially made for beading and jewelry making  . They last for years and are a real good investment to consider.

Thanks once again for the support .

I will be looking forward to seeing you with your new creations in the near future.
